Conversations in History: "Writing on the Wall: The History & Preservation of Civil War Graffiti"

Kim O'Connell, author of a 2014 Civil War graffiti article in the popular New York Times’s “Disunion” series, will explore the history of Civil War graffiti and preservation efforts to protect these unique perspectives of soldiers in the Civil War. Following her presentation, Tracy Gillespie, Historic Site Manager with NOVA Parks, will comment on the graffiti left on the walls of Mt. Zion Church by Union soldiers.

Suggested donation $10 per person. No reservations required.

This program is the first in the 2022 Conversations in History series cosponsored by NOVA Parks and the Virginia Piedmont Heritage Area.
