Christmas in Camp: Holiday Traditions During the Civil War

  • Upperville Baptist Church 9070 John S Mosby Highway Upperville, VA, 20184 United States (map)

The Heritage Area saw thousands of men march and camp throughout its storied roads and homes, many not to return home. The Christmas season was difficult for the soldiers living in cold and dreary winter camps, but many found joy through music and comradery. Musician and VPHA Board director Bess Putnam will perform music popular to the local and military communities, and share stories of those soldiers who endured Christmas so far from home.

This program will include live music and refreshments.
