Author Judge David Johnson returns to the Heritage Area to discuss his biography of Virginia historian, author, newspaper editor, and radio commentator Douglas Southall Freeman. Freeman wrote multi-volume biographies of Robert E. Lee and George Washington, for both of which he was awarded Pulitzer Prizes, as well as the highly-regarded three-volume series, Lee's Lieutenants: A Study in Command. Discover why this influential Virginian’s work made him close friends with the likes of George C. Marshall and President Dwight. D. Eisenhower, and how he became one of the country’s preeminent military historians.
This program will be followed by a beer & wine reception.
