Take a hike through history at Old Welbourne! John Peyton Dulany built a cabin on the property for his family in 1812 which has recently been restored. The brick manor house was built in the late 19th century for their grandson, Richard Hunter Dulany. During the Civil War these quiet rolling hills were the scene of the important but often overlooked Battle of Unison, fought as the Union and Confederate armies maneuvered for position in the wake of the Battle of Antietam.
The hike will be guided by professional interpreters, with stops to highlight different stories. The total distance is approximately 4 miles of rolling terrain. Please wear comfortable hiking shoes, dress appropriately for the weather, and bring plenty of water.
Water and snacks will be available.
